PatronScan Privacy Policy

Privacy information for personal information collected by PatronScan ID scanner systems.

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected by PatronScan ID scanner systems.

We must comply with Commonwealth privacy laws and the Australian Privacy Principles. Personal information is defined in those laws. For this policy, all information on your photo ID is considered personal information.

If you are not involved in an incident your personal information will be permanently deleted within 30 days. PatronScan is a live ban network and other establishments may be notified if you are involved in an incident.

Collection of personal information

The information collected is limited to:

  • Your name
  • Your date of birth, residential address, or both
  • The photograph appearing on your photo ID

The ID scanner system does not collect or use unsolicited personal information.

Management and storage

All personal information is securely held and managed in a secure Australian data centre. Your personal information is not stored locally at any venue and cannot be accessed except as described in this policy.

Data is stored in encrypted form and is only accessible through system software. Data communications are encrypted and personal information is not stored in plain text. Venue staff do not have access to your personal information. Each scanner venue has a unique login ID subject to an audit trail.

Use or disclosure

Group Security Solutions may access collected information for maintaining the system and responding to lawful requests from:

  • The NSW Police Force
  • The Secretary, NSW Trade & Investment, and authorised officers within the Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing
  • The Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority

If you have been issued with a temporary or long-term banning order, the system operator may alert us that you are not allowed to enter a connected venue. If you have been issued with a venue banning order, that banning order may be shared with other connected venues, which may refuse entry.

Direct marketing and cross-border disclosure

We do not have access to your personal information once it is scanned except as described, and therefore cannot use or disclose this information for direct marketing.

Your personal information is securely managed and held by Group Security. By law, this information cannot be transferred outside Australia except to New Zealand.

Government identifiers and deletion

Government issued identifiers such as passport numbers are not collected or used as part of the ID scanner system.

Your personal information is automatically and permanently deleted from the ID scanner system 30 days after it was collected except where you are subject to a long-term banning order, in which case your information is kept for the duration of the banning period, or in other cases authorised by the relevant Secretary at the request of the Commissioner of Police.
